good. i like it just as much as the first film, but this one is more of a “horror-flick”. excellent f/x, good fighting (but don’t sit too close to the screen).

played “grandia 2”
lots of it, in fact. excellent game. classical console rpg with a good (!) fighting system, where whacking buttons at lightning speed is of no importance. graphics are not impressive, but get a lot better later on. nice music. but they could’ve used something better than cinepac to compress their AVIs… oh, and did anyone else have a crash in the “defend”-tutorial (the only crash so far, i might add)?
musa (“the warrior”)
2nd (mini-)review of the evening: musa (“the warrior”) region 3 (only). anamorphic transfer, but some artifacting close to the black-levels, which is a bit of a shame as quite a lot of takes place at night / in the dark. still a good transfer, but you might want to reduce brightness / contrast a bit [edit: looked fine on telly]. excellent film as well (had me crying for the last 20 minutes). rather violent. director’s commentary does not have english subs :(. good balance between action & character interactions.
avalon
avalon region 3 release by “panorama entertainment”: playable in all regions, not anamorphic, good transfer, Dolby Digital 5.1 & 2.0 (polish), chinese & english subs (ok, some typos). excellent film. very oshii (slow in a sense), thinking, bleak. excellent soundtrack by kenji kawai.
mini mezzo-forte review:
i was laughing my butt off… very funny…
in contrast to (a)kite, this is very, very black comedy/humor (which – in contrast to what i’ve seen of excel saga – actually works), and it was constructed in such a way than you can edit out the sex w/o having an impact on the story (probably at mediablasters request), so that if hentai is not your cup of tea, you most likely won’t miss anything vital if you get the “cut” version.
so, if the (copious?) violence does not put you off, it’s very funny and incredibly well animated… ^_^

watched “time and tide”. very recommended. over-the-top action flick w/ some amazing scenes. tries to be very post-matrix (and partly succeeds). convoluted story, and the guy you think is gonna kick ass doesn’t get a real gun until the end of the film. ^_^
